Buzz. Pre-release buzz. That's what they call it in the "biz". All the big guys do it. Pick up a novel by a best-selling author and what do you find on the back cover? A blurb about his/her next book that probably hasn't even gone through the editing phase yet. And Hollywood? Same thing. We were hearing about Ron Howard's upcoming film adaption of Dan Brown's Angels & Demons before it was even close to final production. I figure they must know what they're doing so I'm just following the big guys!

This is my pre-release buzz for my new novel, Ash: Return of the Beast that I hope to have out sometime in 2010!

While in the process of writing a novel I like to have the book cover finished and in front of me. It helps keep me motivated because what good is a great cover if there's nothing to put inside? It's an odd carrot to dangle at the end of the stick I suppose but, you know, whatever works!

So here it is:

The story of Ash: Return of the Beast is a strange and diabolical tale of magick (yes, with a ck), mystery and murder. It is murder... isn't it? That's what Brian Kane, the gritty, street-worn Seattle police lieutenant, can't figure out. Yes, the city's good, God-fearing preachers are falling over dead, one after another. There's no doubt about that. But is it murder? Where's the evidence?

Hmm... sounds like a job for the attractive Rowena Ravenwood, the FBI Special Agent assigned to the APU. The APU? Kane never heard of it and he never heard of this Ravenwood lady either. He already prefers eating ground glass to working with the FBI. But when he finds out the APU stands for Anomalous Phenomena Unit, well, let's just say he's considerably irked. But, whatcha gonna do? And she is kind of pretty. He might be able to tolerate her presence if she doesn't get too far into that New Age, woo-woo crap. I mean, murder is serious business and... oh, wait. Did I say, "murder"? We're back to that again. Dead preachers. No murder weapons. No finger prints. No sign of struggle. Oh, there is one thing: some bizarre symbols tattooed on the corpses. Were these preachers all members of some bizarre cult? Or were those tattoos applied post-mortem? Poor Kane. This isn't going to be easy.

Read more and discover the real-life facts that led to the writing of this occult mystery crime thriller, Ash: Return of the Beast.
