My 30 years in the graphics and illustration field have never been so rewarding as the experience of designing book covers. I love the creative challenge of reflecting the essence of an author's story in a visual form. My job, as a cover artist, is to give the potential reader (and, hopefully, the potential buyer!) the motivation to pick the book up and give it a browse. Once that first impression is made and the book is opened the rest is up to the author's words.
Just to provide a couple samples of the range of my work, below is one of the cover ideas for the novel I'm currently writing, followed by a cover I did for another author which is in a completely different style and genre.
But I'm not just limited to adult books. For those of you who write children's books, I do cover art for the kiddies, too! Here are a couple examples of my "Kid Friendly" art!
